Etsy and a New Year

So, my daughter Melody and her husband Derek created this new blog site for me to blog about my quilting. My other blog, luvmybeagles.wordpress.com, was originally started to blog about my dogs and ended up being about quilting. They thought I should have a separate place to blog and post pictures about quilting. In doing all this, I also created an Etsy sight – www.etsy.com/shop/quiltedmelodies.… all of this is stretching my brain.
In this update I am posting photos of a quilt I started almost a year ago. when I knew that Melody & Derek were going to get married sometime in 2009, I put this quilt on the “back burner” so I could make something special for them (you can see photos of that quilt in a previous post). I also had lots of things to focus on for the wedding itself! It turned out to be a perfect day and event. If you want to see photos, click on “Melody Makes” blog where she posted her photos.
Back to the quilt I’m working on finishing. It’s composed of natural earth-toned batiks cut in circular shapes. I had never made quilt blocks with curved shapes, so it was challenging and rewarding. I really love this quilt and am not sure if I will list it for sale on Etsy or just keep it for myself. We’ll see. As of today, it’s not quite finished. I still have to quilt it, but here are some of the photos while in process.
Placement of the blocks on my wall… it took many hours and days of staring at it to get it the way I think looked best.
After adding borders, it’s pretty big – approximately 78″ x 71″. Here it is today hanging on my wall waiting to be batted and quilted up!
As soon as it’s finished, I’ll photograph it better and add it to the post.
What do you think? Different, huh?
